Think Again!

Wow, I am in awe!  When we first started this journey, I was overwhelmed with the idea of how much this was going to cost.  $20,000 just for the adoption alone and another $10,000 for the two trips to Ethiopia sounded like a simply impossible feat.  And yet I remembered what God has done, is doing, and always promises to do for those who are obeying Him.  We believed this was the Lord's calling on our lives just as we are all called to defend the cause and care for His widows and orphans.  

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James 1:27

Because we believed He was the one leading us to this journey, we knew in our hearts that He would bring in the funds.  We weren't sure in our heads if that could actually happen, but we knew in our hearts that He had done amazing things before so we jumped in and just began to trust.


Within the first two months of the process, He brought in over $2392 in donations.  Then we also were blessed with a family member who stepped up to loan us a rather huge amount which helped us get the first initial fee paid along with a whole bunch of other out of pocket expenses we had to put forth.  The great thing on the loan is that we get to make a small payment each month, interest free, and we don't have a time limit or deadline as to when we have to get it paid back.  We simply pay $100 each month.


Now with our next $5000 due in just a week or two (whenever that FDL comes from the USCIS department comes) I sit back and am amazed at how HE brought in the funds once again.  Through generous friends and family, lots of car wash recipients, craft sales, necklace sales, coffee sales, tee sales, and side business work, we can thankfully say we have just about that total amount raised!


Our next amount of around $6000 will be due once we receive a referral (a referral is when we find out who they have matched us up with.....who Chloe is!) which won't happen for 9-12 months.  That is a LOT of time to come up with the $6000 so we will also work during those next 9-12 months to raise our in-country and travel fees which will total some where around $10,000.


So for those of you who have thought about adoption but have decided against it because of the enormous cost, think again!  God WILL fund the adoption through other loving and generous children of the king.


For those of you who think you would never be able to do such a risky, challenging thing such as adoption, think again!  I never thought I would be doing such a thing.  However in the last few years the Lord has changed us, grown us, refined us, and readied us to do this.  If you are willing to follow Him, if you are willing to seek Him out and love Him and obey Him with all your heart, He will get you ready for something wonderful.  Something better than living this life on earth without chasing after Him and what He wants you to do.
