Created for Care was so much more than I could have ever imagined. I now see why God made it perfectly clear to me that I should attend. He spoke so much into my heart. I have to write it down so I don't forget...not that I am prone to forgetting, but if you know me, you know my memory or lack thereof :)
The first thing I heard the Lord speaking about was trust. I was blessed with many opportunities to hear of the crazy ways God confirmed their calling to adopt. From God making THE PERFECT and fitting piece of paper fall out of a box (out of all the other million pieces there were) to God speaking directly to a momma's heart during a worship service. God calls us, we have a choice to answer yes or no, and then if we do answer yes, God is so loving, gentle, and kind to confirm his calling. I LOVE this about the Lord.
The second thing I believe the Lord showed me was that to lose your life is to gain it. I have heard this verse so many times, taught so often, and I have believed it to be true in my life. However, the Lord chose to make this very real this weekend. There are things in our lives we cherish and enjoy...however God is now calling our family to simplify, clear out, and make way for something greater. For example, we own a very wonderful trailer. We can't get enough camping each summer, and we thoroughly enjoy every minute we spend in the various locations in WA state and beyond. However we are wondering if we should sell it and put that money into other things more important and dear to our hearts. We are just praying about it for now and we'll see where the Lord leads.
I can't wait for next year's retreat....maybe next year I won't miss the memo about my agency's little get together during the retreat. I am so bummed I missed it as it was one of the biggest things I was looking forward to!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kelly
Joe and Deanna,
Are you still raising funds for your adoption? If so, I'd love to help. Can you email me at mlee@coupaide.com?
Thanks!
