Passing on Our Riches

I saw a video today that really spurred my family into action once again.  It was a video posted by Sole Hope whose mission is to provide shoes to people in impoverished nations to prevent disease, amputations, jiggers, and to also provide viable jobs for widows.

Here is the link if you want to watch it:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajdVs3s2k3U

My kids wanted to watch it today too.  It was sooo good for them to see how blessed we are, how rich we are here as we sit in our comfortable home with at least three pairs of shoes per person!

I love the verse the video posts at the end:

"Everyone should use the gifts that they've received to serve others,
faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."
1 Peter 4:10

I have to say it was wonderful to explain to the boys why God has richly blessed us.  God has given us enough money for what we need, and we even have a bit of extra each month.  No, we don't fall into the "rich" category in the USA, but we are middle class.  We don't have to worry about where our next meal will come from.  We don't have to worry about shelter, transportation, etc.  WE are blessed, and we believe God doesn't bless us with extra to keep for ourselves.  God wants to put extra in our hands so we can bless those in need.  Ministry takes place when DIVINE resources meet human needs through loving channels to the GLORY of GOD. Warren Wiersbe quoted there.

Our family has had a hearts broken.  We lay broken before the Lord, ready and willing to be steered, used, and guided as His heart leads.  We want to use the divine resources He has handed to us to lovingly meet human needs for His glory.  We have always been generous with the Lord's money He has handed to us, but we haven't ever felt this amount of urgency to die to ourselves, our lifestyle, and our desires in order to provide for others.

While we are raising our own funds to be able to pay for our adoption, we are donating wee little bit amounts to others adoptions, Sole Hope, Poppie Lane so they can provide 1000 diapers to orphanages in Ethiopia, and more.  We trust that as we spread God's wealth and provision to others, He will continue to provide the provision we need for Chloe.   I know that might sound crazy....giving away the money we have when we desperately need it to raise the funds for Chloe, but that is how God is leading us.  We trust that He will bless us as we bless others.

So I challenge you to join us.  Think about what you could forgo this week or this month so a child can have shoes on his/her feet and 150 widows can be trained to make them giving them a viable income as you do it.  Just $25 does this!  $25 changes 151+ lives.  It's that simple.
