I have just been praying earnestly lately that God would bring me to a place of peace and trust about this adoption. It is funny: there are times of great peace, and yet there are the times of fear. Will I love her immediately as soon as I see her picture? Will she love us? Will be bond well and form a secure attachment? Will the boys continue to love and appreciate her or will the excitement and honeymoon period end?
Anyway, my point is: GOD IS SO GOOD. He knows when His children need a bit of encouragement. He knew I needed some last week, and He gave it to me in the form of a dream (or so I think it was the Lord :).
In the dream I was simply head over heels in love with Chloe. I remember holding her, cuddling her, and just giggling with joy as she was in my arms. I had the feeling in my dream that I was sooo at peace because we finally had her, we were so attached and in love with her, and she was totally and fully attached to and in love with us. I also had that feeling because in my dream I sensed all other cares were blown away....that having her and raising her was the thing to do and all other busy items fell away. Kind of like that song by the David Crowder band where he sings, "All of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory..." I am a busy woman, and I sense God leading me to slow down, do less work, and just relish in what He puts in front of me each day. You see, I am a workaholic, and I create work for myself simply because I love to work. However, this work while fully wonderful and meaningful and beneficial, is also quite the distraction from sitting at His feet and just enjoying quiet times, enjoying hanging out with my kiddos more than I do, etc. So it was so great having that dream and feeling such peace at just the simple task of being a mommy.
The next day the Lord gave me this verse which fit so perfectly:
Isaiah 32:17 "The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever." I sensed that kind of peace in the dream, and I hope and pray for it in our real lives here when she comes.
Anyway, I wanted to jot it all down so I don't forget. Here I raise my Ebenezer.....
