More About Ethiopia

*When in Ethiopia, you should eat with your right hand.  Ethiopian food is considered a gift from God, and eating with the left hand is a sign of disrespect.
*Ethiopians have "coffee ceremonies."  You should consider a special honor and sign of respect if you are invited to a native's home to join in a coffee ceremony.
*In Lalibela, 500 miles from Addis Ababa, is internationally know for its 11 rock-hewn churches.  They contain dimly lit passageways and hidden crypts and grottoes.  Some refer to them as part of the eight wonders of the world.
*The capital of Ethiopia is Addis Ababa which means "New Flower."  Did you know it is 7500+/- feet above sea level???  Stevens Pass here in WA is roughly 4400 feet above sea level.  Obviously they say you might experience shortness of breath, nausea, and headaches while your body gets used to the change in elevation.  One bright note about this:  less insects!
*You shouldn't eat fresh fruit in Ethiopia unless it has been personally peeled and soaked in a bleach solution before eating.  You should stick to bottled water, and this means you shouldn't even rinse your toothbrush in tap water :O

This picture above is the walk way or road families walk that leads up to Hannah's House, the orphanage our little Chloe will be cared for until we get her.  Joe and I will be walking this road......soon.
